Scanning barcodes and QR codes

Scan or type a code to find an item and record stock

Scanning is a fast way to find an item or to fill a stock task without typing SKUs. Use the device camera, a connected barcode reader, or type the code by hand.

Find an item by code

  1. Open Scan in the sidebar.
  2. Start the camera and hold a barcode or QR code inside the frame, or type the code and choose Find item.
  3. Daizy opens the matching item record.

If no item matches, check that the code is saved on the item under its Barcode or QR codes section. See Managing items.

Scan while recording stock

Stock in and Stock out have a scan toggle. Turn on the code field, then scan items into a batch:

  • Each scan adds one line and one unit.
  • Scan the same code again to add another.
  • A hardware reader or the camera both work.

Choose the location first. Daizy will not scan items until a location is selected.

Which codes work

Daizy matches the code you scan against the codes saved on your items:

  • The internal code Daizy generates from the item ID.
  • Any extra supplier or manufacturer code you added.

Camera requirements

Camera scanning needs HTTPS or localhost, and a browser that allows camera access. Grant permission when asked. If the camera is unavailable, type the code or use a hardware reader instead.

If a scan does not work

  • No item has that code. The code is not saved on any item. Add it to the item first.
  • Enter a valid code. The field was empty, or the scan produced no characters.
  • Item is inactive. Inactive items cannot be stocked. Reactivate it or use an active item.
  • Choose a location first. A stock task needs a location before it can accept scanned items.
